Pfc. Vernard Swieso, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Swieso, who has been in Japan since September, received his honorable discharge for re-enlistment in the regular Army.

He landed in Seattle and reported at Fort Sheridan, Ill., and arrived home last week for a 30-day furlough, before going to Fort Monroe, Va. for further engineer training.

Vernard entered the armed forces Jan. 24, 1945 and had training at Fort McClellan, Ala. and Fort Ord, Calif. before going overseas. He was with the Army Infantry, but was transferred into special Engineering Brigade while at Hachinohe, Japan.
