Washburn (2 August 1973)

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hamilton of Sherwood recently sold their farm to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Babcok and family of Lublin, who will take possession around August 10. Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton will move to Tennessee, where their son-n-law and daughter reside. Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton spent Sunday afternoon and were supper guests of Mrs. Chris Feutz.

Mr and Mrs. Gene Simmons entertained friends at a roast pig supper Saturday evening. The ladies brought food for the supper also.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kruger, Mrs. Betty Pepper and daughter Orrisa, Mrs. Everett Pepper and Mrs. Wayne Pepper of Janesville, spent Sunday at the Ernest Kissling home and attended the bridal shower honoring Charmain Montgomery Sunday evening. Other relatives and friends were in attendance. The bride-to-be received many gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Kruger spent Sunday night and Monday at the Kissling home and visited her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer.

Jack Bowe of San Francisco, Ca, was a recent overnight guest of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Neil Meddaugh, and his brother-in-law, Gordon Meddaugh and family. He also visited his mother in Beaver Dam, a sister in La Crosse and another sister in Bettendorf, Ia. He made the trip by plane from California to La Crosse.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Urban and Mr. and Mrs. David Vine spent July 17 with Mrs. Urban’s mother, Mrs. Irving Stevens, in honor of Mrs. Urban’s birthday.

Brenda Urban returned home Tuesday from Menomonee Falls after accompanying her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Krause, and daughter, Cheryl, on a vacation trip to the Black Hills. She returned home with her uncle Harold Ammentorp of Milwaukee, who had to make a business trip to Marshfield.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Sr., visited Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Grimm in Stratford Tuesday.

Don Stewart and son, Jeff of Verona, spent Thursday and Friday at the Ralph Short home doing some repair work for them. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart, Jeff and several families from Verona were camping at Peterwell Flowage Park near Monroe Center and South of Wisconsin Rapids, until Sunday. The weather cooled off Thursday night after our much needed rain and was quite cool at their camp Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer attended the senior citizens picnic at Snyder Park last Thursday.

Mrs. Godfrey Laufenberg and two daughters of Alma Center visited Thursday at the Bruce Spiegel home in honor of Mrs. Spiegel’s birthday. Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart were there also.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ammentorp of Milwaukee, spent the weekend with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Urban. Mrs. Nellie Urban of Owen was a dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Urban.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wall and daughter of Florida called on his aunts, Mrs. Irving Stevens and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Vincent, last week Wednesday. They had visited his grandmothers, Mrs. R. M. Horswill and Mrs. Floyd Wall.

Mr. and Mrs. Buford Wilding of Milwaukee called on Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short Sunday evening. They had visited her mother in Greenwood and called on his uncle and aunt, Mr and Mrs. Jess Wilding, at Memorial Home in Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer were in Marshfield Thursday where, Mrs. Kapfer had a check-up.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sternitzky of Granton visited Thursday evening at the harry Teter home. Other visitors were Herschel Teter and daughter of Loyal and Carl Sternitzky.

Mrs. Frank Short returned home Wednesday from Memorial Hospital, where she was a patient for a few days.

Mr and Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Sr., visited Wednesday evening at the Ralph Short home.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Barth of Nekoosa, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bowen, Mrs. Oliver Williams and sisters, Mrs. Leon Mathews and Mrs. Ethel Henne of Lake Geneva, called Sunday at the Mrs. Art Odell home. Mrs. Henne, Mrs. Mathews and Mrs. Williams also called on Mrs. Harry Kissling Sunday evening.

Fred Bonas of Loyal visited Wednesday at the Harry Teter home.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Jiggs) Poler and Mrs. Albert (Jim) Kapfer of West Bend called Wednesday at the Oliver Williams home.

Cannonville Ladies Aid will meet at the church Wednesday, August 18, at 1:30 p.m.
