Andersen, Joyce C. (Finkler) (27 NOV 1930 - 20 JAN 2015)

Joyce C. Andersen, age 84, of Colby, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, after a long illness at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, with her family by her side day in and day out.

Joyce was born on November 27, 1930, the daughter of Gerald and Sally (Helmakangas) Finkler in Superior. Superior is where she was raised and attended school. After graduation, she attended nursing school in Eau Claire for three years. Joyce was united in marriage to Robert Andersen on September 23, 1950. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

Joyce worked as a CNA in Medford, and Preins Hardware in Colby. She was a member of many groups including the church choir for 30 years, Clark County Choraliers for 20 years, and Ladies Guild at First United Church in Colby.

Joyce loved music, everything from playing the piano and the organ to singing. She enjoyed rosemaling, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed being outside, fishing with her children and grandchildren, laying in the hammock observing the stars and moon, and gardening. But most of all, her sense of humor and spunk will be missed.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Robert Andersen of Colby; five children, Elaine (Wayne) Westrich of Unity, Robert M. (Marcie) Andersen of Helena, Mont., Sally (Ramon) Stelloh of West Salem, Mark (Sandy) Andersen of Stratford, and Paul (Cherie) Andersen of Helena, Mont.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews; and friends. She was loved by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Chris Andersen; three brothers; and one sister.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at First United Church of Christ in Colby. Pastor Teri Hanson will preside. Family and friends are welcome from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby. Burial will be in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Family and friends may express condolences online at www.maurinaschilling.com.
