Richards, Darlene A. (24 December 1928 - 4 November 2014)

Darlene A. (Lulloff) Richards, 85, of Black River Falls, formerly of Owen, entered eternal life Nov. 4, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.

Darlene was born at home in the Town of Hoard to Martha and Bernard Lulloff Dec. 24, 1928. She graduated from Owen High School in 1947, and from the Medford Teachers College in 1949 and later received a Bachelor’s degree from UW-Stevens Point in education. Darlene began her teaching career in Goodman, WI, initially teaching middle school; however, soon she found her niche as a first-grade teacher and taught until she retired in 1986, after 34 years with the Goodman-Armstrong Creek School District.

Darlene married Clarence Richards Oct. 28, 1950, at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Colby. They recently just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Darlene and Clarence moved to Owen in 1986 after their retirement and purchased a 60-acre farm. Darlene and Clarence opened a store in their home called ‘Crafts by the Richards,’ where they would sell crafts and woodworking projects made by them.

Darlene and Clarence shared the skill of collecting maple sap. They would gather and process and sell their maple syrup. They also enjoyed gardening and selling the fruits of their labor. Darlene and Clarence invested in a timeshare and would travel around the U. S. but especially enjoyed Branson, the Poconos and Apple Valley, OH, and many trips were made to visit family in Florida and Tennessee.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence Richards, of Black River Falls; her daughters, Betty (Fred) Dorava of Medford, Pat (Bob) Marx of Rochelle, IL, Kathy (Mike) Cooney of Plymouth and Eileen Cleaver of Black River Falls; her six grandchildren: Carol, Julie, Jenny, Stephanie, Neil and Kristen; seven great-grandchildren, Casey Cassidy, Carmen, Aadin, Mason, Soloman and Lilly, and one great-grandchild due in December. Darlene is further survived by a brother Jim Lulloff of Owen and her favorite four legged friend, ‘Dufus’ and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Bernard Lulloff; siblings, Vernard Lulloff, Arlyn ‘Sonny’ Lulloff, Carmen Lulloff, Robert ‘Bobby’ Lulloff and Helen (Lulloff) Walz; and son-in-law, Frank Cleaver.

Her funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Green Grove at 11 a.m. Reverend Dr. Paul C. Hunsicker Sr. officiated. Visitation was at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the service Saturday. Burial took place in the church cemetery following the service.

Friends may send online condolences to www.maurinaschilling.com.  The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Owen assisted the family with arrangements.
