Malnar, Frances (20 October 1896 - 3 September 1973)

Mrs. Frances Malnar, 74, of Greenwood, died September 3, in the Marshfield Convalescent Center. Mrs. Malnar, the former Frances Stimac was born October 20, 1896, in Crni Lug, Yugoslavia, where she received her education. She was married in February 1929 in Yugoslavia to J:ck Malnar and they came to the United States in April 1929. Her husband died November 16, 1955.

After their marriage they resided on a farm in Willard until 1953, when they retired and moved to Greenwood. Mrs. Malnar was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held September 6 from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Leander Koopman officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Joseph Ulesich, Charles Herrick, Val Yurkovich, Robert Herrick, Gerald Glaslas and Emil J. Malnar. St. Mary’s school children sang, accompanied by Tom Zepaltas.

People from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Francis Stimac and William Stimac of Joliet, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Steve Stimac of Kincaid, Il.; Ralph Stimac and Elizabeth Sears of Hillside, Il.; and others from Marshfield, Owen, Thorp, Willard and the Greenwood area.
