Wendt, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick (40th - 1 October 1973)

Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Wendt of Neillsville observed their 40th wedding anniversary Saturday, September 29, with an afternoon and evening open house at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kyle of Rt. 2 Neillsville. The observance was planned by the Wendts’ children.

Mr. and Mrs. Wendt were married October 1, 1933, at the parsonage in Neillsville by the late Rev. George W. Longenecker. With the exception of one year, they have spent their entire married life here.

All four of the couple’s children and their husbands and wives were present for the occasion. They are Clair of Marshfield, Larry of Stoughton, Mrs. Stanley (Teriann) Kurasz of Morrison, Il., and Mrs. Lawrence (Kathleen) Kyle of Neillsville. Twelve grandchildren were also in attendance.

Three members of the Wendts’ wedding party took part in the observance. They included Mr. Wendt’s brother and sister, Alvin Wendt and Eva Wendt, and Mrs. Wendt’s brother, Ray Fradette.

A daughter-in-law, Mrs. Larry Wendt, was in charge of the guest book. The anniversary cake was baked and decorated by a close friend of the family, Mary Jane Lewis Pettit of Marshfield. A special centerpiece was the gift of Mrs. Wendt’s co-workers in the Neillsville Public School hot lunch program and of the school custodians. Mrs. Wendt has been a baker at the school cafeteria for a number of years, and is also employed part time as a aid at Memorial Home.

Among the 150 persons in attendance were the following from out-of-town not previously mentioned: Mr. and Mrs. Art Johnson of Albuquerque, N.M., Mr. Wendt’s aunt and uncle; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson, Minneapolis, Mn.; Mr. and Mr John Trogner, Stoughton; Mrs. Paul Stuhlman of Weyauwega, Mr. Wendt’s sister; Mrs. Tom Graveen and children, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fradette of Eau Claire, Mrs. Wendt’s brother and sister-in-law; Mrs. Carol Johnson of Marshfield, Mrs. Wendt’s sister; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Meihak, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Neland Will, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Albin Person, Osseo; Mr and Mrs. William Oldham, Fairchild; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hurlburt, Black River Falls; Mrs. Laura Hatton and Mrs. Betty Lenz, Greenwood.
