Humbird (25 October1973)

Mrs. Kurt Schlei of Green Bay came Saturday to stay until Tuesday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Henry Laffe.

Mrs. Anita Markham was a dinner and afternoon guest Sunday in the Harold Losey home in Fairchild.

Levi Fitzmaurice was transferred from the Neillsville Memorial Hospital Friday to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for further tests and probable surgery today (Thursday). His room is 124 on third floor.

Mrs. Mary Jo Everson of Alma Center called Sunday at the Arnold Matti home to see her grandmother, who is quite sick with a bad cold.

Paul Elger came home Friday from the Neillsville Memorial Hospital and is able to get around in the house with the aid of a walker.

Mrs. Edith Smith and Mrs. Kate Dignin took advantage of the beautiful weather Sunday and drove to Mondovi to call at the Mrs. Lulu Crandall and Earl Laugworth homes. They also called on Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Ecke and found them in very good spirits and health.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Nering and two boys of Milwaukee were overnight guests Saturday of her parents, Mr and Mrs. Ted Polege. Sunday they drove to Pigeon to spend the day with his mother and help her celebrate her 87th birthday.

Mrs. Elgie Hardwick, who has been visiting her daughters and son in Altoona, came home Saturday.

Mrs. Anita Markham came home Tuesday from several days’ visit at the Sylvester Taylor home in Mosinee.

Mr and Mrs. DeWayne Parent and Steven and Howie Sanders drove to Thorp Sunday to spend the day with her parents, Mr. and mrs. Pirl Burrington and her aunt and uncle, the Rev. and Mrs. Harold Palmer.

Sorry to report that Mrs. Helen Giloy has suffered a light stroke and is in the hospital at Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. Steve Tichy of Mundelein, Il., called Monday forenoon at the home of Mrs. Emma Gerber.

Mrs. Bud Walker of Fairchild and St. Paul came Saturday afternoon to spend the weekend with her parents, Mr and Mrs. Archie Kirby. Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Senske and Joe of St. Paul came to spend the day.

Mrs. Pearl Johnson is in a Marshfield hospital and expected to have eye surgery this week.

Fred Burrington of Elk Mound and his fiancée, Mary Lou Rowell of Mondovi, Mr. and Mrs. Macintyre of Elk Mound and Mr. and Mrs. Don Eisberner spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. DeWayne Parent.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe and guests, Mrs. Kurt Schlei of Green Bay and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Clouse of Loyal, drove to Eau Claire Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Walker and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fitzmaurice drove to Kenosha Saturday to spend a long weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Olson.

Mr. and Mrs. John Phillips and Marion drove to Wisconsin Rapids Sunday to spend the day with her mother, Mrs. Art Allen, and call on Mr. Allen in a rest home.

Mrs. Leo Janke and her mother, Mrs. Jake Lightfoot, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Matson in rural Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Harris were Saturday afternoon visitors in the home of their daughter Mrs. Clifford Monthe, in Tomah.

Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Harris and Debbie came from Madison Satruday afternoon for a weekend visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Harris.

Saturday night, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Losey of Fairchild and their guests, Mrs. William Saudenice of Viola and Mrs. Eva Lepley of Arkansas, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe, Mrs. Kurt Schlei of Green Bay, Mrs. Maude Newton, Alton Stallard, Nordahl Fristad and Mr. and Mrs. Hansen, Sr., attended a gathering held in honor of the late Gibson Gile in Merrillan.
