Ruda, Carol Mae (11 MAY 1968)

Vases of gladiolas and carnations were on the main altar of ST. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church, Lublin, for the marriage of Miss Carol Mae Ruda and Buford Lee Burns on Saturday, May 11, 1968. Rev. Matthew A. Buba Jr. performed the two p.m. ceremony. Mrs. Diane Buba, accompanied by Ed Ruda, sang.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ruda, Thorp, and Mr. and Mrs. Irving J. Burns, Connersville, Wis.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length A-line gown of nylon over taffeta. Delicate lace of acetate and nylon molded the Empire style bodice. Long pointed sleeves and scattered appliques, pearls and sequins decorated the lace stand up collar. The attached long scalloped train of all nylon lace fell from the empire styled waist. The nylon shoulder length veilw as topped with simulated pearl orange blossoms for her crown. She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses and pink carnations.

Miss Geri Ruda was her sister’s maid of honor, and bridesmaids were: Miss Janet Knoepke, cousin of the groom, and Mrs. Joe Jasek, sister of the bride. They wore powder blue floor length gowns made of chiffon over taffeta, with a lace bodice and panels of chiffon flowing from satin bows on the shoulders. They each wore powder blue headpieces that were similar to the bride’s, and carried cascade bouquets of pink and white carnations.

Miss Bonnie Borek, the bride’s niece, was flower girl, and the bride’s nephew, Bruce Jasek, was ring bearer.

Bill Hanson was best man and groomsmen were: Herman Burns and Pete Burns, brothers of the groom. Ushers were: Roger Szymoniak, cousin of the bride, and John Burns, cousin of the groom.

A reception and dance were held at Koolmo’s Ballroom in Gilman.

The bride, a 1965 graduate of Thorp High School, is employed at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Milwaukee. The groom attended Boyceville High School and is employed at Blue Ribbon Sales, Inc., Oconomowoc.

After a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin, they will make their home at 64 S. Maple St., Oconomowoc, Wis.
