Halle, Arnold (Abt. 1895 – 4 Oct 1918)

The community was shocked to learn of the sudden death of Private Arnold Halle, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Halle, which occurred on Friday, Oct. 4, at the W.S.A. Gen. Hospital at Fort Ontario, N.Y., his death being the result of pneumonia. Everything known to medical science was resorted to, but to no avail and the young life was wafted away. Arnold was only 23 years of age. He was a boy of pleasing disposition and always had a pleasant word and smile for everyone, and we cannot speak too highly of him. When his call came to enter the government service as a soldier, he went with a willing heart and to the end he was a faithful soldier boy. He will be greatly missed here. He will be buried with full military honors at Greenwood Tuesday. He is survived by his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Halle, two sisters, Miss Lena Hawley of Milwaukee and Mrs. John Meinke of Calvery, Wis., four brothers, Bruno of Fond du Lac and Hugo, Charles and Fred of Greenwood.
