Last Saturday night nineteen of the forty-one graduates of the Thorp High School
class of 1933, held their 35th Anniversary Class Reunion at the Sky Club.
Preceding the dinner, acquaintances were renewed and ins some instances it was
the first time the classmates had met since graduating in 1933. In addition to
the class members and their wifes or husband, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Anderson of
Hudson were guests for the occasion. Mr. Anderson served as Coach and Industrial
Arts instructor in the thirties, while Mrs. Anderson, the former Harriet
Mahlberg, was a grade school instructor during that period.
The class of 1933 held their first reunion ten years ago, wat which time one
member, Ida Markowski Skalecki, had passed away. In the next decade three
members have departs, Loblia Gotter Helms, Eldred Winger, and just recently,
Clarence Fisher. "Mrs. Clarence Fisher expressed her thanks to the graduates of
the class of '33 for the floral bouquet."
Eugene Wilhelm served as committee chairman, Betty Schmidt as Sec'y/Treasurer,
with Ben Burkhardt, Grace Baldeschwiler and Dorothy Mattes assisting. Pat
Soderberg acted as Master of Ceremonies.
Each member was called upon, and in many instances there was a lot of humor
interjected with the reminiscing of bygone days. Appropriate gifts were awarded.
Letters were read from those unable to attend: Mr. Newell E. Qualle of Mesa,
Ariz.; Mrs. George Slauson Hantke of Eagle River, Wis., who is still teaching
U.S. History in the Eagle River High School; Harriet Peeples Ingles of Columbus,
Ohio; Mary Bohnak Eckert of Oxford, N.J.; Grace Marshall Haas of Cadott, Wis.;
