Hoernke, Elfrieda M. (Theilig) (22 NOV 1921 - 23 JUL 2015)

Elfrieda M. Hoernke, Age 93, of Stratford, while surrounded by family, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at her daughter’s residence. Asera Hospice Care provided assistance to Elfrieda and her family.

A private memorial service will be held.

Elfrieda was born November 22, 1921, the tenth child of thirteen to Alfred and Clara (Pankow) Theilig. She graduated from Athens High School. She was united in marriage to Harold Hoernke in Athens on May 22, 1943.

The couple raised five wonderful children. Elfrieda and Harold celebrated 63 wonderful years of marriage. Sadly, Harold passed away on January 4, 2006. Along with being a dedicated wife and loving mother working to raise her family, she and Harold owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Frankfort.

Her hobbies included spending time with family, gardening, baking, especially for her grandchildren and great–grandchildren, fishing, playing cards, and an occasional trip to the casino.

Survivors include her five children: Sandy (Al) Grell of Stratford; Kenny (Mary) Hoernke of Tomahawk; Ginny Hoernke of Stratford; Cheri (Kim) Krueger of Weston and Darryl Hoernke of Weston; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Elfrieda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 12 brothers and sisters and her grandson Tim.

Life Tributes Funeral Home and Cremation Service-Spencer is assisting Elfrieda’s family. Visit www.lifetributesfuneralhome.com  to share thoughts and condolences.
