Oswald, Albert H. (10 JUN 1878 – 17 SEP 1958)

Albert Hugo Oswald was born June 10, 1878 at Leon, Monroe County, Wis., son of Jacob and Amelia Oswald.

He was united in marriage with Violet Gaines at Sparta on August 14, 1907. They resided around Sparta until 18 years ago, when they moved to Clark County, and lately resided one mile east of Greenwood.

They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on August 14, `957.

He was a member of the Congregational Church in Sparta.

Mr. Oswald passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 17, 1958, following a heart attack. He has been in ill health for the past four years.

The body was at the Hill Funeral Parlors until Saturday morning, when it was taken to Sparta.

Funeral services were held at the Lanham Funeral Home in Sparta at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Ira Tanner, pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Greenwood, officiated. Burial was made in Mount Hope Cemetery at Sparta.

Pallbearers were Cleo Mains, Lawrence Larson, Ernest Elmer, Delmond Johnson, Carl and Art Turnquist.

Mr. Oswald is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Verna) Nolan, and Mrs. Lawrence (Winifred)) Halbrader, Greenwood; and Mrs. Douglas (Shirley) Behrens, Kendall; one son, Orville Oswald, Greenwood; two sisters, Mrs. Neil Jacobs, Sparta; Mrs. Lee Fly, Billings, Mont.; two brothers, Robert of Sparta and Edward of Tomah; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He wwas preceded in death by one son, Warren, one daughter Myrtle, and a brother Otto, who died in May 1958.

Those from Greenwood attending the funeral were Mrs. Albert Oswald, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Nolan, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Oswald and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Halbrader, Linda and Warren, Mr. and Mrs. Delmond Johnson and Karen, Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Mains and Ernie, Henry Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Art Turnquist, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Behrens, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Elmer, Carl Turnquist, Lawrence Larson and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Nolan of Stratford.
