Reid, Grace (19 AUG 1897 – 15 JUL 1959)

Mrs. Forest Reid, nee Grace Miller, daughter of Mrs. Irwin (Edna Drake) Miller and the late Irwin Miller, was born August 19, 1897 near Campbellsport. The family came to Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1907 and settled on a farm south of here. She received her education in the rural school and graduated from the Greenwood High School with the class of 1915.

The family moved to the Town of Rushford, near Omro, in 1916, and on April 13, 1921 she was united in marriage to Forest Reid there. She has resided on a farm near Omro since her marriage. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Reid passed at Mercy Hospital, Oshkosh at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 1959, following a few years' illness. She had been hospitalized since June 8, 1959. She underwent surgery in 1958.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 17, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Omro, of which she was a member. Rev. Kenneth H. Craig, Winneconne, officiated. Burial was made in Rushford Cemetery.

Mrs. Reid is survived by her husband, Forest, one daughter, Mrs. E.W. (Alice) Adkins, Rockford, Ill.; four sons, Merrill and Alvin, Oshkosh; Robert at home, and Walter, a polio patient at Mercy Hospital, Oshkosh; her mother, Mrs. Irwin (Edna) Miller, Omro; two brothers, Rev. Daniel Miller, Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; David Miller, Alton, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Fred (Maud) Huntzicker, Greenwood; Mrs. Edwin (Ruth) Ketelle, Linday; Mrs. Glendale (Judy) Messing, Wis. Rapids; five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Drake, Omro.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1933 and a sister, Mrs. Elmer (Edith) Albright, in 1957.
