Genteman, Larry Lee (7 September 1949 - 30 March 2016) With Flag

Larry L. Genteman, 66, formerly of Chili, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at the King Veteran’s Home in King.

Larry Lee Genteman was born Sept. 7, 1949, in Neillsville, the son of William and Lura (Mills) Genteman. He graduated from Neillsville High School and farmed for a year before entering the United States Army. He served in Vietnam. When he returned, he started a 37-year career at Land O’Lakes Dairy, where he blended and ground cheese. He retired due to failing health brought on by Agent Orange.

During his retirement, he spent many hours volunteering at The Highground Veteran’s Memorial Park in Neillsville, and when he moved to the Veteran’s Home in King, he served his fellow veterans by delivering their mail.

Larry loved hunting, fishing, golfing and watching his favorite Wisconsin sports teams, the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and the Badgers. A real highlight of his life was when several Green Bay Packers made a visit to the Veteran’s home where Larry lived for the past two years.

Larry’s family was important to him, and he enjoyed spending time with them on holidays and celebrations.

He is survived by sisters: Bonnie (Francis) Langreck of Granton, Betty Berlick of Marshfield and Barbara (Bill) Lucas of Willard; brothers: Bill Genteman of Waukesha and Vern (Cathy) Genteman of Wisconsin Rapids; many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Jackie Lodzinski.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Dave Berlick; nephew Tom Langreck; niece, Marilyn Langreck; and nephews-in-law, Patrick Hoy and Mike Slowiak.

A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, with visitation from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Military rites were accorded by the Neillsville Veteran’s Council.

Online condolences may be made at www.geschefh.com.  The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Larry’s family with funeral arrangements.
