Thorp Alumni Association Announces (Annual Reunion - 2 July 2016)
The Thorp Alumni Association will hold their annual meeting and reunion on
Saturday, July 2, 2016.
All alumni are invited and encouraged to attend.
The annual meeting will begin at 10 a.m. at the Thorp Public Library at 401
South Conway Street in Thorp. Enter through the south door. This is an important
meeting regarding the distribution of the TAA scholarship fund monies. We need
your input.
Registration begins at 1 p.m. at the Quonset Hall of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig
Parish two miles east of Thorp, just off County Road X. Come early and bet the
rush! Register, view the memorabilia, go about your day, and return for the
social hour at 4 p.m. and the family style dinner of chicken, dressing, and beef
tips at 5 p.m. with the program following.
Invitations were sent to the alumni of the 2006 class and years prior. Anyone
who did not receive their invitation may print the invitation from the TAA
website. It is http://www.thorpalumniassociation.org. Our email address is
thorpalumniassoc@amail.com. Remember that “alumni” mean all people who attended,
not just graduates of THS.
TAA welcomes back the classes of 1941, 1946, 1951, 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976,
and 1981. Special tables will be set up for them at the banquet as well as other
classes celebrating their own reunions. Other groups should indicate their
request for special seating on their reservation.
As times have changed, so have the skills needed to accomplish the paperwork
necessary to keep the organization up-to-date and operating efficiently.
Computer skills are imperative. While our younger members are proficient in
things like Facebook, Twitter, etc., most of our older members are not. We need
to be able to communicate with all of our members in the medium of communication
they need. Location is important. WE need local alumni (able to attend meetings)
willing to help the officers/staff. We also need people to help with the set-up
and teardown of the banquet hall. Call Bettie Butek Valek, Secretary of the TAA,
at 715-723-4708 to let her know how you may be able to help.
Join us in reconnecting with old friends and support the Thorp Alumni
Association at the air-conditioned Quonset Hall.
