The fifth-third Annual Commencement of the Luther Hospital School of Nursing was held on Sunday afternoon, August 12, 1962, at Schofield Hall Auditorium, Wisconsin State College. Among the 31 young women presented with pins and diplomas were Mary Ann and Marilyn Haunschild, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Haunschild, Greenwood.

Mrs. Robert Novotny played a musical prelude and the processional and recessional The Rev. Herbert O. Prauener, Peace Lutheran Church, offered the invocation. This was followed by a musical selection, "Speedwell," by the Nursing Students Chorus.

The Commencement Address was given by Mr. Homer DeLong, Superintendent of the Eau Claire Public Schools. R.R. Richards, M.D., extended greetings to the graduating nurses from the Luther Medical Staff.

Following the presentation of the class by Miss Patricia A. Finn, education director, the diplomas were conferred by Mr. A.J. Peterson, president of the board of directors of Luther Hospital. The pin of the School of Nursing was given to each graduate by Miss Helen L. Trunclik, director. The new graduates then renewed their Nightingale Pledge.

A quartet composed of Misses Lanna Moy, Susan Nyre, Sally Olson and Carol Stokka sang "How Great Thou Art." The Commencement closed with benediction and the recessional.
