Schmitt, James P. (11 OCT 1954 – 12 JUN 2016)

James P. Schmitt, 61, Chili, died peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at his home in the Town of Fremont, Clark County.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 2:30 pm on Wednesday until service time at Rembs Funeral Home.

James was born, along with his twin brother Jeffrey, on October 11, 1954 in Marshfield, to James H. and Shirley (Christensen) Schmitt and was a 1972 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. He married Shirley J. Geldernick on October 10, 1987 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Chili.

Jim was worked as a carpenter for many years. He was last employed as a custodian for the Marshfield School District. He enjoyed reading, playing cards, cutting wood, crossword puzzles and puttering. He was an amazing and loving husband and father. He loved and enjoyed life.

Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley and their children, Jack and Cody Schmitt all of Chili. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Rodney (Rita) Schmitt of Green Bay, Anthony (Brenda) Schmitt, Janet Schmitt, Gordon Schmitt, Dale Schmitt and Cindee Charron, all of Marshfield. He is further survived by his in-laws, Dick (Karolyn) Geldernick of Chili, Jerry (Shirley) Geldernick of Marshfield, Dan (Sue) Geldernick and Tim (Kathy) Geldernick, all of Chili, Jeannie (Mike) Bell of Marshfield and Terry (Leroy) Bowe of Greenwood and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, his twin brother, Jeffrey, a sister, Eva Marie Schmitt and his and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willard "Tuffy" and Darleen Geldernick.

In lieu of flowers the family will designate a memorial in Jim's name at a later date.
