Michlig, Robert "Bob" Leo (10 FEB 1940 - 4 FEB 2014)

Robert "Bob" Leo Michlig, 73, Wausau died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Our House Memory Care, Wausau.

He was born February 10, 1940 son of the late Dorothy (Koppa) and Alex Michlig. Bob attended St. Michael's Elementary and was a 1958 graduate of Wausau High School where he played baseball and hockey.

Following high school, Bob enlisted in the Army and served from 1958-1960. After discharge, he worked for Wausau Papers at Brokaw for 20 years, was the day bartender at Vern's Bar, then the Admiral, where he was affectionately known as "Robbie". He worked for Vern's Vending Service until retirement.

Bob met Connie Abramowski on a blind date and they were married on June 2, 1962 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Florence Wisconsin. They raised four children. Bob bowled and played softball, first fast pitch and then in the Grand Masters Slow Pitch League. He played dart ball in the church league for St. Michael's Catholic Church and was involved in other church activities. Some of his other interests were doing jigsaw puzzles and playing cribbage with his grandchildren.

Bob was a NASCAR fan while Dave Marcis raced, attending several NASCAR races. He also enjoyed watching the Brewers and Packers and attended multiple games over the years. Special times were spent at the family cottage on Papke Lake with family and many road trips with good friends. He enjoyed 2 trips to Alaska to visit his brother-in-law's family.

Bob is survived by his wife Connie, their four children Dave (Julie) Michlig, Cross Plains, WI; Sue (Scott) Huntington, Wausau; Sandy (Brian) Kraimer, Barrington, Il and Tom (Denise) Michlig, Wausau, ten grandchildren Kevin, Andy and Ryan Michlig, Abby (fiance Kevin Daniels) and Molly Huntington, Ellie, Brianne and Cassidy Kraimer, Geneva and JT Michlig.

Bob is also survived by four brothers, Myron (Carol), Delmar (Phyllis), Allen (Janet) and Ronnie (Mary) all of Wausau, his in-laws Marci (Randy) Morrison, Middleton, WI, Mike (Julie) McLain, Palmer, AK, Cassie McLain (Joel Braatz), Merrill, Dennis McLain (Tina Mitchell), Fort Atkinson, WI, and Cliff Cebula, Hatley plus many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, in-laws Roger and Reggie McLain, brother Laverne and sister Sharon Cebula.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon Monday, February 10, 2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.

Friends may call on Sunday from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, St. Anthony's Spirituality Center, Marathon or St. Michael's Parish. Special thanks to the staff of Our House Memory Care who provided comfort and care while a resident there.
