Strong, DeLellis "Dee" Mary (Sommers) (19 JUL 1928 - 5 FEB 2012)

Dee truly believed that family was the meaning of life. She loved her family deeply and her life revolved around caring for them. Dee was a very humble, kind, and compassionate person.

She was born July 19th 1928 in Shiocton, WI, to the late Ed and Anna Sommers. Dee graduated from Shiocton High School and then worked at the Greenville Locker Co-op for 3 years. On July 12th 1949, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Carlton Strong and together they shared 62 years of marriage.

Dee loved to quilt and made many beautiful quilted pieces over the years; she was a Eucharistic Minister, delivering communion to patients at the Wausau Hospital for 25 years and to shut-ins in Edgar. She played on a bowling team, volunteered at school or the Edgar Library whenever the need arose, delivered Meals-On-Wheels, belonged to the Edgar Woman's Club, and the St. John's Parish Woman's Club. She also made the time to enjoy many games of Sheepshead and listen to polka music. Dee worked with Ken in the grocery business for 40 years, starting in Greenville at the Co-op. They moved to Edgar to purchase the AG Store, and retired from the grocery business in 1990.

DeLellis Mary Strong, age 83, of Edgar, WI, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, in Lake Placid, FL, on Sunday, February 5th 2012.

Dee and Ken were very proud of their beloved family, including their 6 children, Michael Strong, Catherine (Chuck) Hornung, Mary (Scott) Rogers, Bernadette (Gary) Christianson, Paul Strong, and Matthew (Amie) Strong; 14 grandchildren, Jacquelyn Strong, Jessica (Matthew) Fillebrown, Amanda (Robert) Clarke, Stephanie (Michael) Tack, Elizabeth Rogers, Benjamin Rogers, Andrew Christianson, Adam Christianson, Hannah Christianson, Christopher Coats, Lillian Strong, Abigail Strong, Anabelle Strong, and Josephine Strong; and 3 great-grandchildren, Kaleb Fillebrown, Sophia Fillebrown, and Anastasia Fillebrown.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Bernadette and Gary Christianson; 2 grandchildren, Andrew and Hannah Christianson; 2 sisters, Catherine Sommers and Eunice Wisner; and 5 brothers, twins, Harold and Jerold Sommers, Edward Sommers, Eugene Sommers, and John Sommers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon, Saturday, February 11th, at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery. The Reverend Robert Streveler will officiate. Family will receive guests beginning at 9:30a on Saturday, at church, and continue until the time of service.
