Wedin, Erna L. (Hensel) (26 SEP 1914 - 16 SEP 2010)

Erna L. Wedin, age 95, of Gilman Care Center, a former Town of Grover Resident, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2010, at the Gilman Care Center, Gilman where she had resided for the past 1½ years.

Funeral services will be held at11:30 A.M. Saturday, September 18, at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, with Rev. Pete Warmanen officiating. Interment will take place at the Perkinstown Community Cemetery, Town of Grover.

Pallbearers are Kristal and Paul Filipiak, Doug and April Graf, Ed Pinkert and Patrick Clough.

Visitation will be at 9:30 A.M. to the time of service at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, September 18 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford.

Erna was born on September 26, 1914, in the Town of Grover, to Richard C. and Louisa (Dunkel) Hensel. She attended Perkinstown Area Schools.

On December 11, 1943, she married Lyle H. Wedin. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1995.

After school Erna worked at Louis F. Dow in Minneapolis, Minnesota as a time keeper until her marriage. She then helped her husband farm and was a housewife in the Town of Grover until 1 ½ years ago. She was an avid reader, enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music, sitting by the campfire, going on road trips and most of all to be around her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandy (William) Graf, of the Town of Grover; grandchildren Doug (April) Graf of the Town of Grover; and Kristal (Paul) Filipiak of Gilman; Great-Grandchildren: Kristin and Kellvin Krizan of Gilman; a sister Gertrude (Oliver) Pinkert of Medford.

She is predeceased by her husband Lyle H. Wedin; her parents Richard C. and Louisa (Dunkel) Hensel; and a son, Allen Wedin in 1955; and siblings Edith Clough; and Richard Hensel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Erna’s family to be designated at a later date.
