Laffan, Jane “Punkie” L. (Piller) (20 OCT 1938 - 19 JAN 2017)

Jane “Punkie” L. Laffan, age 78, of Care Partners Assisted Living, Medford, a former Townships of Deer Creek & Little Black resident, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Care Partner’s Assisted Living, Medford where she had resided for the past 2½ years, most recently under the care of Hope Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 23 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, with Rev. R.J. Schuenke officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Stetsonville, with her grandchildren as pallbearers.

Visitation will be at 9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Monday, January 23 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford.

Jane L. Piller was born on October 20, 1938, at Medford, to Theodore “Ted” and Opal (Clarkson) Piller. She attended Town of Deer Creek Elementary schools and was a 1956 graduate of Medford High School.

On November 11, 1961, she married Dennis J. Laffan, Sr., at Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on October 31, 1990.

After her education, she resided & worked in Chicago for a period of time. After their marriage, they moved to the Town of Deer Creek in 1976. She later resided in the Town of Little Black and with her daughter for a period of time prior to entering Care Partners in Medford. She worked at Tombstone Pizza Corp. in Medford for 25 years until her retirement. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, camping, reading & spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Red Hatters; and was a past member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stetsonville.

She is survived by her children, Dennis (Sandy) Laffan of Eau Claire, Charmaine (Todd) Baker of Medford & Christine (Richard) Gustafson of Clayton, NY; grandchildren Rachel (Eric) Vach, Taylor (Coyle Weissmiller) Laffan, Megan Nicks, Melissa Baker, Delaney Laffan, Mathew Gustafson, Margaret Baker, AJ Gustafson; and great grandchildren Ellie & Jace Vach.

Jane is also survived by siblings, David (Leona) Piller of the Town of Deer Creek, Donald Piller of Rib Lake, Lana (Jack) Raiche of Mound, MN, Connie (Jack) Behrendt of Maple Plain, MN, Sandy (Dale) Jochimsen of the Town of Little Black, Jeff (Sharon) Piller of Granton.

She is predeceased by her husband Dennis J. Laffan, Sr., her parents Theodore “Ted” and Opal (Clarkson) Piller, and granddaughter, Cassidy Laffan in 1996, and siblings, Kathy Hauser & Margaret Piller; Brother-in-law: Judd Hauser.
