Lis, Mr./Mrs. Bruno (Gold – 13 OCT 1969)

Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Lis were honored by their children at a dinner and supper on October 12, 1969 at the Colburn Town Hall at Huron to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. The hall was decorated with gold and white streamers. The tables were decorated with seasonal flowers and a two tier anniversary cake.

A dinner at noon and supper were served to the honor couple, their attendants and immediate family.

Sue Lis, Linda and Betty Hudak, and Sandra Lis, granddaughters served the cake.

For the special occasion Mrs. Lis wore a brown suit, to which a cymbidium orchid and gold mus were pinned. Mr. Lis had a gold boutonniere pinned to his blue-gray suit.

Mr. Bruno Lis married the former Sophie Czerwinski on October 13, 1919 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin (Taylor Co.), Wis. They spent most of their married life on a farm near Lublin. Mr. Lis also was a cattle dealer for many years. Prior to retiring in 1954, they also operated the Bellinger Club for several years. Mr. Lis was born on June 20, 1895 to Joseph and Mary Lis in Poland. He came to America as a young man and served in the army during World War I.

Sophie Czerwinski was born on December 23, 1903 to Andrew and Mary Czerwinski in Poland. She came to this country as a young girl with her parents and brothers.

Their attendants of fifty years ago were: Mrs. Pauline Kramicz of Thorp, Mary Bartoszewski of Chicago, Jennie Grendzinski of Texas, Frances Chmilewski (deceased), John Czerwinski of Lublin, Walter Czerwinski of Gary, Indiana, Mr. Frank Kotecki (deceased), Stanley Pikarz of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Adam Czerwinski of Wausau were ring bearer and flower girl.

The attendants who were present were: John Czerwinski and Mr. and Mrs. Adam Czerwinski. The men attendants had white boutonnieres with gold leaf, and Mrs. Czerwinski had a corsage of mums and yellow roses.

All their children and grandchildren were present. Mr. and Mrs. Lis are the parents of six sons, Frank of Gilman, Edward of Huron, Stanley of Bellinger, Bruno Jr. of Huron, All of Rhinelander, Tony of Huron; and four daughters, Mrs. Felix (Bernice) Nowak of Lublin, Mrs. Pete (Helen) Hudak of Huron, Mrs. Joe (Stella) Klisiewicz of Huron, Mrs. Louis (Sophie) Bandur of Huron. There are 28 grandchildren.
