Deskin, Dessie Jean (Combs) (8 NOV 1939 - 13 MAR 2017)

Dessie Jean Deskin, age 77, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017, at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy surrounded by her loving family.

Dessie was born on Nov. 8, 1939, in Jackson, Ky. to the late Ossie and Oma (Hensley) Combs. Dessie was a homemaker and did housekeeping at the Ashford Center in Beavercreek for 11 years. Dessie enjoyed spending time with her friends at Treaty City Manor.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 17, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Dessie is survived by her children, Sherman W. and Beverly Deskin of Bradford, Ohio, Michael and Karen Deskin of Pleasant Hill, Ohio, Deborah Howard of West Carrolton, Ohio, Pam and Fred Jones of New Lebanon, Ohio, Steven and Amy Deskin of Bradford, Ohio and Vonda and Michael Kinas of Gilman; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Sam Combs of Arizona and Ossie and Juanita Combs, Jr. of Norwood, Ohio; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel and Lloyd Brewer of Kentucky, Margie Williams of Middletown, Ohio and Minie and Herschel Blackburn of Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Dessie was also preceded in death by her husband, Sherman William Deskin on March 25, 1991, whom she married on Dec. 6, 1958; infant son, Benjamin Deskin; daughter, Kathy Brock; brothers, Emmit and Nickie Combs; and sister, Anna Mae Combs.
