SPENCER, WIS. SCHOOLS

Our schools are again in operation after an interruption of about a month. The interruption was necessitated by the burning of the school house about the first of December last. While the fire was consuming the fine building, and many were viewing the conflagration with sadness, some of the urchins were heard exulting in view of the fact that "we shall have a vacation now." It is the purpose of the district to build a more commodious edifice next spring as the former house was too small for the juvenile population. The primary department is now occupying the Methodist church, under the charge of Miss Lindsay, who is very popular with the little ones, and the advanced department is in Gardner's Hall, conducted by Mr. VanHecke, who is proving himself an efficient instructor.
