Ackerman, Charles A. (31 DEC 1834 – 8 MAY 1919)
Chas. A. Ackerman died May 8th, 1919. He was born Dec. 31st, 1834 at Hartwick,
Otsego County, New York. He resided there until he was nineteen years of age and
then came to Dodge County, Wis. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Condit Jan. 1,
1857, and made their home at Rubicon, Dodge County, until Oct. 20, 1864, when
they moved with oxen and prairie schooner to Neillsville, arriving here Nov.
1st, 1864. The following spring they moved onto the farm in Pine Valley, which
has been their home ever since. To them were born five children, Cecil, Isabell,
Edith, Frederick and Cora, three of whom, Cecil of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Henry
Garvin of Cathay, N.D., and Frederick, who lives on the home farm, survive their
parents. Mr. Ackerman also leaves twelve grandchildren and one brother in New
York State. He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge and of the Congregational
Church, where the funeral was held Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Odd
Fellows and Rev. G.W. Longenecker.
Mr. Ackerman was a man of sterling worth and high principles and will always be
remembered by those who knew him personally as a really good man.
Mrs. Henry Garvin of Cathay, N.D., was here to attend the funeral.
