Speck, Elaine (Goldamer) (3 DEC 1920 – 22 JUN 2017)

Elaine Speck, Age 97, of Abbotsford, passed away on June 22, 2017. She was born on January 18, 1920, in Abbotsford, WI the daughter of Alvin and Meta (Franz) Goldamer.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. Rev. Don Bruce will officiate. Interment will follow at Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service, Saturday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Elaine was a lifelong resident of Abbotsford and attended Abbotsford Public Schools, graduating in 1937. She was united in marriage to Howard M. Speck on October 16, 1941, in Belvidere, IL. She then left the area with him during the time he served in the military in Oklahoma.

She was employed for many years, as a book-keeper at the Colby Clinic, while Doctors Koch, Hansen and Pfefferkorn were physicians there. Elaine made lasting friendships during those years with fellow employees, and with patients who visited the clinic.

Elaine was a member of Christ Lutheran Church her entire life, the Priscilla Guild, American Legion Auxiliary, the Library Club and card clubs. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, making quilts and Afghans for nieces, nephews, and friends. Elaine loved to cook and bake, and would share her “goodies” with others.

Elaine is survived by her brother, Robert (Arletta) Goldamer of Abbotsford, ten nieces and nephews and other relatives and Brian and Andi, who was “special” to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Howard; and two sisters: Ardyce Cornelius and Audrey Christensen.
