Army Specialist Five Larry G. Alger, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert G. Alger, route 3, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), was awarded a Certificate of Achievement November 20, 1969 while serving with the 554th Engineer Battalion near Lai Khe, Vietnam.

Spec. 5 Alger earned the award for meritorious service as a supply sergeant in Company B of the battalion.

He entered the Army in January 1967 and was stationed at Ft. Eustis, Virginia before arriving overseas in March 1968.

He is a 1965 graduate of Thorp High School.
