Zubal, Evelyn A. (Drace) (19 FEB 1941 - 9 DEC 2017)

Evelyn A. Zubal, 76 of Boyd, joined the angels on Saturday, December 9, 2017.

“Evey” was born at home in Boyd, WI on February 19, 1941. She was the 8th child of Carl and Loretta (Sonnentag) Drace. Evey attended St. Joseph’s Catholic school in Boyd and graduated from Cadott High School. She married the love of her life, William “Bill” Zubal, on October 7, 1961.

Evey was a stay at home mom until her four children entered grade school. She then worked at the August Lotz Company in Boyd for over 25 years until her retirement. Evey found joy in every day and readily shared it with others. She enjoyed bowling & reminiscing with friends, playing cards and Wii games with the grandkids, doing crossword puzzles, and watching game shows.

She made frequent trips to Goodwill to find bargains and used her savings for an occasional trip to the casino. She rarely missed a Packers, Badgers, or Brewers game or any of the grandchildren’s events. Evey will be remembered for her warm smile, sharp wit, and sense of humor. And her “Evey-isms” such as… she never had a headache in her life but her hair hurt a lot. Evey cherished family gatherings and is blessed to celebrate Christmas with loved ones in heaven this year.

Evey is survived by her husband Bill, and three children - Linda (Jim) Klapperich of Stanley, Brian (friend Jodi Ritsch) Zubal of Chippewa Falls, and Laurie (Dan) Fitzsimmons of Marathon. She is also survived by six grandchildren – Jacob (Hillary) Fitzsimmons, Charlie Zubal, Zac Zubal, Brittney (Josh) Langiewicz, Luke (fiancée Brianna Heise) Fitzsimmons, and Hunter Klapperich and her beloved dog, Shadow. Evey has two brothers – Jim (Cathy) Drace of Chippewa Falls and Donnie Drace of Boyd and her sister-in-law Booty (Bart) Castro of Atlanta, GA as well as many nieces, nephews and loved ones.

Evey was preceded in death by her son Jamie Zubal, parents Carl and Loretta Drace, and in-laws William and Bessie Zubal. She is also preceded by eight sisters: Beverly Jablonski, Helen Erickson, Marlene Lenz, Lavonne Johnson, Corrine Bennett, Shirley Svejda, Mary Zielsdorf, and Carol Kadlec, and two brothers: Robert Drace and Jerry
“Chas” Drace.

A funeral service will be held at 7PM on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Plombon Funeral Home-Stanley with visitation from 3 PM until the time of service.
