Irvin, William John (3 APR 1943 - 19 DEC 2017)

William John Irvin, known to friends and family as Bill, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at the age of 74.

Bill was born on April 9, 1943 in Chicago, Ill., to John Oliver and Loretta Marcella (Merrick) Irvin. He grew up in Duluth, Minn. and graduated from Cathedral Senior High in 1961.

Following graduation he enlisted in the Air Force during the Vietnam era and served until 1965.
He spent much of his life working as a machinist at John Deere, Boeing and Trane.

Bill enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and spending time with his golden retriever, Amy. Bill also loved aviation. He was proud to have earned his pilot’s license and loved flying small airplanes. He was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He retired and lived the last of his years in Bruce.

Bill is survived by his children, Mitch Irvin, Mike (Susan) Irvin, Jeremy (Alex) Irvin, John Irvin, Sue (Brad) Dutcher, Bill Irvin, James Irvin, Katie (Scott) Dixon and Joe (Nikky) Irvin; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his ex-wife, Jeannie Hegeman and his sister, Therese Ann Irvin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Bill at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5 at St. Catherine Catholic Church, W5262 County D, Sarona, Wis. 54870.

Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the Veterans Cemetery in Spooner.
