Young, Allen Gene (1929? - 17 DEC 2017)

Allen Gene Young was born in 1929 to Frieda and Walter Young in Ladysmith, where he was seventh of nine children.

After high school he joined the Army and served during the Korean War. In 1953 he married Constance “Faye” Gorla in Ladysmith. They moved to Baraboo for five years then built a home and hobby farm in rural Lodi.

Gene was a longtime iron worker with Findorff in Madison until his retirement. During his iron working career Gene was a member of the Iron Workers Local 383.

He enjoyed many outdoor activities from hunting, snowmobiling, topper camping and especially working around their hobby farm caring for numerous sheep and goats.

Gene was the “Summer Dad” for many nieces and nephews who spent the summers on the hobby farm. He entertained them with his great sense of humor and unconditional love. They will greatly miss him.

Gene is survived by the love of his life, Faye Young of 64 years, three of his eight siblings, Walter Young, Lois Harringer and Ruth Wilson and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frieda and Walter Young; his sisters, Mary Lloyd, Augusta Young and Charlotte Cormack and his brothers, Raymond and Robert Young.

A graveside memorial will be held in the spring of 2018.

Gunderson Lodi Funeral & Cremation Care in Lodi is assisting with the arrangements.
