Schmitt, Janice Marie (Marriage – 14 September 1974)

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, was the setting Saturday, September 14, for the marriage of Miss Janice Marie Schmitt, and Robert J. Weideman. The Rev. Fr. Diedrich officiated at the 1 p.m. ceremony for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emery Schmitt, Rt. 2 Colby, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Weideman, Rt. 1 Curtiss.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in an A-line skirted gown fashioned with a modified bodice and high neckline. A lace and pearl headpiece secured her fingertip veil. Red roses and white carnations formed the bridal bouquet.

Miss Fay Hainzlsperger, was the maid-of-honor, and Mrs. Carol Frane, the bridesmaid. Both are from Colby. Their blue floral gowns were complemented by matching, shoulder-length veils. Each carried two long-stemmed red roses.

The groom’s attendants, both of Abbotsford, included Alfred Weideman as best man, and Leonard Allemann as groomsman. Serving as ushers were Russell Schmitt, Colby, and Richard Weideman, Curtiss.

Alois Gabriel was the organist and St. Mary’s School Choir sang.

A reception at The Sword was followed by a wedding supper in St. Mary’s parish hall and a dance at The Sword.

A 1973 graduate of Colby High School, the bride is employed as a nurse’s aide at Colby Colonial house. Her husband graduated from Owen-Withee High School, and is engaged in farming together with his father.

The newlyweds will live on Rt. 1 Curtiss.
