Brubacher, Margaretha A. “Grethie” (Miller) (3 DEC 1932 - 5 FEB 2018)

Margaretha A. “Grethie” Brubacher, age 85, of Wausau, formerly of Edgar, went to be with her Lord, surrounded by her family on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at The Bay at Colonial Manor in Wausau under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Community Bible Church in Stratford. Pastor William Burrows and Pastor Jim Brown will preside. Burial will follow in the Fenwood cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday at the church in Stratford from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The honor of pallbearer belongs to her grandsons.

Grethie was born on Dec. 3, 1932, to Harold and Ethel (Norwood) Miller in Indiana. She graduated from Topeka, Ind., and received her teaching degree from UW-Superior. On April 4, 1956, she was united in marriage to Sidney Brubacher Sr. Grethie and Sidney resided in Michigan before moving to Wisconsin where they dairy farmed. She was employed as a homemaker and taught third grade in Michigan and special education in Edgar, Stratford and Marathon.

Her hobbies included reading, sewing and most important to her, spending time with her family and friends. She was known by many for her love for the Lord, her hospitality to everyone and her beautiful handmade doll clothes. Grethie was a member of Community Bible Church in Stratford.

Grethie is survived by her children, Agnes (Charles) Cross of Middlebury, Ind., Sidney (Jennifer) Brubacher Jr. of Wausau, Harold Brubacher of Abbotsford, Jon (Joann) Brubacher of Marathon, Carolyn (Jim) Brown of Eureka, Mo., and Rose (Mark Schultz) Ford of Merrill. She is further survived by her siblings, Genie (Jese) Kehr, Eva (Chip) Burroway and Dan (Janell) Miller; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ethel; daughter in infancy, Marilyn; brother, William Miller; sister, Donna Yoder; and daughter-in-law, Helen Brubacher.
If desired, memorials may be given in memory of Grethie to Jamaican Relief Ministries.
Her arrangements are under the care of Life Tributes Funeral Home–Spencer.
