Helen Yvonne (Rosandich) Schultz died peacefully with her family at her side Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at Wells Nature View, Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal with Father Steve Brice officiating. Visitation will be held at St. Anthony’s from 9:30 a.m. until the time of serviced. Burial will take place at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Chili. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law with granddaughters and granddaughters-in-law acting as honorary pallbearers.

Helen was a Granton area resident most of her life. She was born March 16, 1926, in the Town of Sherwood, Clark County to Stephen and Katherine (Mazar) Rosandich. She was one of a family of eight sons and five daughters. She attended the Audobon School, a one-room schoolhouse in the Town of Sherwood, graduated Granton High School in 1943 and Wood County Normal School in 1946, completing her two-year teaching degree. She taught at various schools, including Silver Crest, Valley View, Holmes and Romadka before her marriage. She married Lawrence H. Schultz May 15, 1948, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville. He died Dec. 4, 2001. They had been married 54 years. After getting married, she stayed home with her children, first in Wisconsin Rapids, and then Helen and Lawrence farmed in the Town of Sherwood and Town of Fremont.

She renewed her teaching license in 1958 and went back into the teaching field at Mound School at Christie, Mack School and finally at Loyal School. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1967 from the UW-Stevens Point. Helen taught for 37 years, most of it as a second-grade teacher. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Helen was a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Chili and later St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal.

Helen loved her family and her faith. Helen and Lawrence enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and watching their children’s and grandchildren’s school and athletic events. She was always willing to stop what she was doing to play a game, cook a meal or do an arts and crafts activity with one or more of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren. Later in life, day and night, she had Eternal Word on her TV with a crossword puzzle in her hand.

Helen is survived by her children, Steve (MaryJane) Schultz, Sumter, SC; Melanie Pack, Sumter, SC; Lowell (Linda) Schultz, Nasonville, Mike (Coleen) Schultz, Granton and Larry (Shelly) Schultz, Spencer. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Frey and children Daniel, Roman and Andrew; Wendy (Stephen) Cutchins and children Madelyn and Sarah; Katie (Nathan) Gray and children Samuel, Alexander and Anderson; Jillian Pack; Ellie Jackson and daughter Farrah; Matthew Schultz and son Hayden; Elizabeth Schultz; Timothy Schultz; Jason (Kim) Schultz and children Kayla, Kelsey, Jared and J.J.; Jennifer (John) Schaak and children Addison, Ansley, Avery and Landon; Kevin (Sarah) Schultz and Sydney, Julia and Zachary; and Kimberly (Ben) Crawford and daughter Eleanor.
