Cattanach, Evan D. (31 MAR 1958 – 22 JUL 2018)

Marshfield - Evan Donovan Cattanach, 60, passed away peacefully at the House of the Dove in Marshfield on July 22nd, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer.

"Hatched with my clothes on," as he would say, on March 31, 1958, in Neillsville, WI, he is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Cattanach; and is survived by his father, Eugene Cattanach; sisters, Lisa (Dan) Sills, Lori (Jeff) Ott; children, Erin Berland, Kristen (Joe) Ledger, Miriam Vajko, Curtis (Lindsey) Cattanach, Samuel (Tina) Cattanach, Jeremiah (Audrey) Cattanach; as well as 10 grandchildren, 2 nieces, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Known as "Cat" by those closest to him, his love for the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and trapping, was only surpassed by the love that he had for his children and grandchildren. He is remembered as being proud of each and every one of them and speaking of them often. He also enjoyed gardening, road trips, making delicious maple syrup, an intense chess or cribbage game, a good debate, listening to his daughters sing, cheering at his sons' basketball games, attending grandchildren's recitals, black walnut taffy and playing the piano. His friends fondly recall the passionate way he would pound out on the ivories "The Entertainer" and his favorite hymns, "We Are More Than Conquerors," and "Victory in Jesus". One lesson that Evan left to his children is the value of hard work and determination. He was hardly seen resting but was continually pressing on at his day job, making firewood, gardening, apple and berry picking, making apple cider, processing venison, and providing for his family in many other ways. He used to say emphatically, "I will rest when I'm dead!" He is now resting in the arms of his Savior. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at Lake Dexter on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11am. He requested we all go fishing in his honor. A potluck will also be enjoyed; please bring a dish to pass, lawn chair and a fishing pole. Watch for signs at Lake Rd, off of Hwy 80, south of Pittsville, WI.

A private graveside service was held Tuesday, July 24, 2018, per his wishes.
