Junior Dairymen from Granton (Clark Co., Wis.) High School place first in the
state this past week for superior achievements accomplished this past year. They
were honored at their annual Junior Dairyman's state convention held this past
week at Oshkosh. They were awarded a huge trophy, which they have on display in
downtown Granton. They were also awarded a check, which they will use to take
their members to the World Dairy Exposition this fall in Madison. Bill Dahl,
president of the local group, was present to accept the trophy and check.
Granton members were cited for their monthly record keeping, record analysis,
and activities of the group which included a trip to the Minnesota State Fair to
see the cattle, a parents night they held, newsletters they published, and
speaking demonstration, and judging contests they participated in.
Also in attendance at the convention were Dan Sladek, secretary of the local
group, and his advisor, Francis Steiner.
Other schools winning in order of their placings were Eau Claire, Menomonie,
Berlin, Neillsville, and East Troy.
