Butler Community Picnic (Butlerville - 1975)
The Community picnic at the Butler Town Hall (the former Butlerville School) was
deemed a huge success by everyone attending.
Mrs. Arthur Morrison, assisted by Mrs. John Bizjak and a few local women, was in
charge of the potluck dinner. When all was ready, Mrs. Emily Albrecht of
Neillsville and Mrs. Harold Palmer, a Butler resident, and both former teachers
of the Butlerville School, rang the bell to summon the large crowd to get in
line for dinner. The Rev. Harold Palmer asked the Lord’s blessing on a bountiful
meal. Many people made the remark that they had never seen so much food.
Approximately 20 towns were represented, as well as several states. After the
dinner the afternoon was spent in visiting and reminiscing. Many of the former
students of Butlerville School of 50 years ago were surprised at now the size of
the building had decreased over the years.
Everyone had such a good time that it was decided to have another picnic in
1976, on September 4, at the Town Hall.
