Neillsville FFA Members Earn Top Honors (Erickson/Thoma - 2020)

Kevin Erickson
Neillsville FFA members Luke Erickson and Kaitlyn Thoma have met the
requirements to earn their Wisconsin State FFA Degrees.
“The State Degree is the highest degree given to FFA members, Neillsville FFA
director Amy Gerhardt said in a June 22 press release.
The list of requirements to earn the degree includes completing two years of
agricultural education course, logging 1,000 hours or investing $1,500 in an
agricultural project; participating in FFA events on chapter, state and national
levels; completing 25 hours of community service; presenting agricultural
speeches; and maintaining a C average academically.
Erickson, the son of Kevin and Jenny Erickson, has been a Neillsville FFA member
for six years. He completed the diversified livestock supervised agricultural
experience, which included raising hogs, beef and chickens. He has also worked
at a local dairy farm and completed community development projects using his
construction talents.
Thoma, the daughter of Gary and Kelly Thoma, has been a Neillsville FFA member
for six years. She has completed dairy placement and food service supervised
agricultural experiences. She works at a local dairy farm helping feed calves.
She also works at the Speakeasy Saloon restaurant preparing food. Thoma also
served as the Neillsville FFA president in 2019-2020.
Thoma and Erickson will be recognized at a virtual awards ceremony on Wednesday,
July 8, by the Wisconsin FFA officer team.
