Julius Fieldkowski was arrested by Sheriff Hewett and brought to Neillsville,
and is now in jail awaiting a trial on a charge of threatening to do great
bodily harm. Fieldkowski owned a farm near Thorp and lost it through foreclosure
action. He took the law in his own hands and threatened to kill the person who
lived on the farm. It is understood that he drove three tenants off the place in
his emulation of John Dietz, and the matter was finally brought to the attention
of the district attorney and sheriff. Fieldkowski had made threats that if the
sheriff came after him he would see to it that some of the sheriff’s assistants
at least would meet with injury. By a ruse Sheriff Hewett got Fieldkowski at a
time when his rifle had been left behind, with the result that the man was
arrested without being able to to carry out his threats, and is now in jail
awaiting trial.
