Paun, Louie R. (16 May 1926 – 3 January 1983)

Louie R. Paun, 56, a former trucker and construction worker from rural Granton (Town of Sherwood), was pronounced dead on arrival at Neillsville Memorial Hospital on Monday afternoon, January 3.

The deceased was born on May 16, 1926, in Granton to John and Mary (Rosandich) Paun. He received his early education in Granton and Neillsville Schools, graduating from Neillsville High in 1943. He never married. He worked for Hiles Construction of Granton for several years and later was employed by Gordon Doine Trucking of Marshfield. His last employment was with Neillsville Co-op Transport, a firm from which he retired due to failing eye sight. He was a member of St. Stephen’s parish, Chili.

Surviving him is his mother of Granton; and two sisters, Mrs. Larry ( Sharon) Steinwagner of Granton and Mrs. George (Marjorie) Nielsen of Wisconsin Rapids. He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, Ronald and Norman; and a sister, Rosetta.

Funeral services were to be held today, (Thursday, January 6) at 10:30 a.m. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville with the Rev. Charles Schumacher of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church of Chili officiating. Burial was to be made in St. Stephen’s Parish Cemetery. (Visitation was scheduled for Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. (with rosary at 8:00 p.m.) and again on Thursday morning until time of services at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville.)
