Colby Class of 1940 Reunion

The Colby high school class of 1940 held a reunion on Saturday, September 5 at the Colby Hotel.

Eighteen of the 36 living members were present. Mike Stieber served as toastmaster for the evening.

A minute of silence was observed in memory of Eileen Kobs, the only deceased member of the class, and Harry Bender, principal at that time. A red rose was taken to Mrs. Alma Kobs and Mr. Harry Bender on Sunday.

The roll of the class was called by Minerva Bauer, with members present responding with information of interest, concerning themselves and families. Letters concerning information about classmates not present were read. The report of the last reunion 10 years ako was read by Marion Mellenthin.

Prizes were awarded to Ruth Korntved, Virginia Bonar, Ituth Boneske, Mary Jane Hebert, Harriet Boss, Joseph Stieber and Russel Roohr.

Letters were received from two teachers, Mrs. Roy Sleeter (Evelyn Quigg) of Wausau, and Gerald Scott of Baraboo.
