Frank and Amelia came to America in the fall of 1881 and moved to a farm 4½ miles northwest of Dorchester (later Joe Weber's). Frank moved to Dorchester in 1919.

2Married in the old St. Peter's Lutheran Church; attendants were: Bertha Habeck (sister of John), Bertha Georgas, Elmer Georgas, Emil Daellenbach.

Mrs. Louisa Marheine, one of seven survivors of the Peshtigo fire of 1871 which killed more than 800 persons, died November 12, 1963 in a Tomahawk hospital. She was a sister to Rica Habeck.
Family settled on farm south of Dorchester where a stone quarry later existed.
John and Rica moved into their home in Dorchester in 1903.

Frank came to America with his parents when he was 12 (1893) settling in Dorchester area.
After Frank's marriage to Ann McCoy, the couple lived in Westboro where he was employed. In 1911 the family returned to Dorchester where he was made manager of the Dorchester Cooperative. He resigned that position in 1922 and became a cashier at the Dorchester State Bank, later becoming president. He served as bank director from 1915 to 1962. He was also treasurer of St. Louis Church for 40 years.

1Obituary claims he was the second white child born in Dorchester. "His parents were Sullivan and Melia Woodin Hugoboom, among the very first settlers in this community who operated a farm and hotel and also were interested in logging operations, the first occupation of many who opened this area to settlement." He founded the forerunner of the Dorchester Clarion, (The Reporter), in September of 1900. Taught school for a couple years before founding the newspaper. Sold newspaper in 1905 and moved to Medford where he operated a print shop until 1908. Moved back to Dorchester in 1918 and published the Weekly Clarion until the end of 1936.
2Graduated from Dorchester High School in 1932.

Jens and Anna Jensen came to America in 1881, settling on a farm in (Bensonville) Illinois. In 1900 Mr. and Mrs. Jensen moved to a farm in the Town of Holway where they lived until moving to Dorchester in 1909. The moved to a farm in northern Illinois in 1916, returning to Dorchester in 1919.

Kottke family came to Dorchester in early 1870's and settled on a farm 2½ miles west of the village. About 1901 they sold the farm to Dennis Laughlin and moved to Norwich, North Dakota. (Occupied By Otto Schultz in 1928.)
Magdal. (Marriedagdaline?) Kottke was one of Anna Lindeman's baptismal sponsors.

1 Parents are Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Kramer. Conrad came to Dorchester area at age 14 (1893-94), settling on a farm west of the village and living there until 1930.
2 Parents are Mr. and Mrs. Emil Wuest.
After their marriage, the Kramers lived in Dorchester for 27 years, operating a livery stable, farming and trucking business. (In 1909 Conrad Kramer sold his house and lots with the intention of moving to Washington.) John Habeck was an attendant for the Kramer wedding. John was living in Abbotsford in 1958.

Herman Kronschnabl had been active in county and state politics for many years. In 1935 he was elected to the State Legislature as a member of the first Progressive party and served in the Assembly for Florence, Forest, and Oneida Counties in 1936-37. He also had been a memeber of the Forest County Board of Supervisors and was postmaster in Dorchester from 1916 to 1925.
He operated the Montello Express newspaper from May 1940 until March 1, 1943, returning to Crandon after residing in Montello for one year.
At the age of two years (1881-82) he came to America from Germany with his parents, Joseph and Mary Kronschnabl, settling on a farm near Dorchester. After marriage, he and Amanda resided in Dorchester until 1925, except for two years when he published the newspaper at Abbotsford in 1913-14. He had previously been publisher of the Dorchester Clarion. June 1925 he bought the Forest Republican at Crandon.

Kronschnabl farm was 3 miles northwest of Dorchester (Joseph's father's farm). Joseph came to America with his parents at age 11 (1885). After his marriage in 1903, he went into the tavern business. Later purchased a farm adjoining the village and became an agent for the Northwestern Oil Co. Again he entered the tavern business and built the first bowling alley in Dorchester which was destroyed by fire in 1931. Carried mail for the Soo Line 1937-38.

2Graduated with the first class to be graduated from Dorchester High School in 1925.
