Bob & Caryl’s IGA sold to Hansen’s IGA

Independently owned Hansen’s IGA, based in Bangor, has purchased the Neillsville Bob & Caryl’s IGA from the Solberg family.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Neillsville Store and their customers into the Hansen’s IGA family,” said Leo Hansen, president and CEO of Hansen’s IGA.  The Bob & Caryl’s IGA store brings many assets to our organization, and we look forward to blending the strengths of two great grocery chains to create an organization committed to service, quality and value.”

The transaction will bring Hansen’s IGA complement of locally owned and operated stores to six, with other present locations in Bangor, Cashton, Elroy, West Salem and Westby.  Hansen’s IGA was started in 1968 by Leo and Rosemary Hansen. Today their sons, Greg and Nick, and Greg’s spouse, Kari, are also involved in the day-to-day operations of the organization.  In 2009 Hansen’s IGA was named the Wisconsin Grocer of the Year.

“We are completely committed to being a strong, locally run independent grocer in the Neillsville area,” Hansen said. “This purchase will allow our entire organization to expand and give us the opportunity to provide even more quality products, value, personal service and convenient locations to all customers.”

The store was chosen because of its location and because of its similar format and floor plan to current Hansen’s IGA locations.

A grand opening event will be announced in the coming weeks.
