The Highground at LZ Lambeau Field

What’s The Highground?  Where is The Highground?  I’ve never heard of The Highground.  These were some of the questions posed to members of the staff and volunteers who manned The Highground booth in the Atrium at LZ Lambeau May 21 to May 23.  Vietnam Veterans were greeted with a handshake and a “Thanks for Serving and Welcome Home.”  Each Vietnam veteran was presented with new Fragments Patch designed especially for LZ Lambeau.

Wisconsin’s official “Welcome Home” to its Vietnam Veterans has been called a great success by veterans and family members.  An estimated 70,000 people attended over the three days of the LZ Lambeau event.  Despite the rain Friday, 1,244 motorcycles participated in the LZ Lambeau Honor Ride to Lambeau Field to pay tribute to the Wisconsin service men and women who were killed in action or are still missing in action.

Vietnam Veterans are the reason for the success of LZ Lambeau.  They accepted an invitation that came decades too late and embraced the chance to join other veterans, to honor one another, to share their stories and to show their pride.

The Highground is proud to have been a part of this amazing event.  Staff looks forward to having those guests visit the memorial park who had asked the question, “What is The Highground?”  The Highground is a place for everyone.
