The Highground’s 10th annual Ride to Remember motorcycle rally, held Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, dedicated itself to remembering veterans, POWs and MIAs.

During the opening ceremony Friday, Aug. 20, retired Lt. Col. Troy Torgerson told the crowd how he grew to love The Highground.  The Friday night ceremony touched the hearts and souls of all participants as only a shared experience at The Highground can.

Registration began early Saturday morning at the WCCN Pavilion with 181 motorcyclists registering.  Bar BK Leatherworks sewed on patches. Raffles and giveaways took place all day.

Riders registered for the Rock 107.5 and Budweiser Harley-Davidson Fat Bob Motorcycle; 10 finalists were then drawn. At 3 p.m., the procession to The Highground took everyone’s breath away.

The entrance to The Highground was lined with flags flown by the Neillsville Color Guard, Greenwood American Legion Post 238 and the Boyd American Legion Post 326.

After a short ceremony, which included a speech by Sgt. Major Randal Boss from Fort McCoy, all had a picnic dinner. The 10th annual Ride to Remember brought nearly $20,000 of donations to The Highground.

The Highground looks forward to Aug. 19 and 20, 2011, for the Highground’s Ride to Remember.
