Mr. & Mrs. Emil Mellenthin

At the time of the Unity Township Centennial, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Mellenthin resided in the area the longest of anyone.  Mr. Mellenthin was born in 1888, and Mrs. Mellenthin in 1892.  The young couple was married in 1913, and a year later took over the farm from his father, William.  They milked 15 cows and hauled to Emil Martin's Cheese Factory, later to Huber's Cheese Factory, and finally into Spencer.  Mr. Mellenthin spent some time working at a log camp up north, and also at the sawmill in Romeo.

The couple had one child, Eldor; one grandchild, Corrine, and two great-grandchildren, Julie and Randy.
