Vandals Target Another CemeteryThe Thorp Courier (Thorp, WI) |
“When you have to put a chain link fence around a cemetery, that’s awful” is what one Stanley person said Tuesday morning November 13 as more than 100 headstones and monuments at Oakland and Holy Family cemeteries in Stanley were damaged or destroyed by vandals over the weekend. Flowerpots and statues were knocked over and shattered, and headstones were tipped over, cracking some. In some cases, the inscriptions on the headstones can no longer be read. “I think it’s terrible, they can’t even let people rest in peace.” Anyone having information on this vandalism needs to call the Stanley police department. “How disrespectful for the living and the dead.” |
