The Thorp Dairy Days Committee, with the help of a list of local businesses and organizations, has continued to show its support of our troops by donating money towards the Camo Quilt Project – a program that creates blankets made of military-issued uniform material for servicemen and women who are stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

With a goal of collecting over $2,000 so 100 quilts can be made, the June Dairy Days has been hard at work selling raffle tickets, collecting donations, and placing donation jars around town.  So far, donations have been received from Northwestern Bank, the FFA Alumni, Thorp Lions, United FCS of Thorp, Thorp Dairy Days, Clark County Tavern league and Wisconsin Tavern League, the Parish Council of Catholic Women, and the Thorp American Legion Auxiliary.  Also working for the cause, Swiderski Equipment, Cliff Hollister, AmericInn, Green Bay Packers, Butch Teclaw, and the Thorp Courier; each have made donations to help with the raffle.

Donations can still be made toward the Camo Quilt Project. Checks can be made out to Thorp Dairy Days and can be sent to Pat Novak at W9304 Cty. Hwy. X, Thorp, WI 54771.

In the photo: Bruce Westphal of Northwestern Bank hands over a donation check to Pat Novak to go towards the project.  Westphal’s son, a serviceman who recently returned from overseas, received a Camo Quilt during his time of service, and fully appreciated the support.

The Thorp Dairy Days committee and the people affiliated with the Camo Quilt project would like to thank anyone who has donated and also Kathy Zajack for helping make over 150 quilts.
