100 Years Ago (1906)

Reseburg Ramblings – Gilbert Hardy returned from the harvest fields of South Dakota on Tuesday last.

Fred Klemp went to Eau Claire on Friday lat to hear Rosenthal, the great pianist, at the opera house.

John Moore traded his farm two miles south of town to John Schultz last week, taking a forty owned by the latter in payment.

The Spice of Life – Bibbs: Some people get everything they go after. Gibbs: Yes, and others don’t seem to get what’s coming to them.

Polish Snuff 40¢, Mica Axle Grease 8¢, Lard 11¢, Washbowl and Pitcher 75¢, Ring Bologna 8¢.

75 Years Ago (1931)

Members of the local post of the American Legion spent Sunday last on a rabbit hunt. Forty-six rabbits were killed and a rabbit feed was enjoyed at the regular meeting of the post.

Roger Creek and Townline – John Qualheim has been elected president of the Future Farmers of America.

A heavy frost was noticeable on Monday morning, November 2nd, the first killing frost of the season.

50 Years Ago (1956)

There are many whooping cough cases in the vicinity, especially around Lublin.

If there was any doubt in anyone’s mind as to who should be champion of the Cloverbelt Football Conference, it was taken out last Friday night as the Thorp Cards soundly trounced a good Owen-Withee bunch 34-0. Completing a record of seven wins and one defeat and outscoring opponents 189 to 44, the Thorp Cardinals won the Cloverbelt Football League Championship.

25 Years Ago (1981)

Edward J. Brzostowski, Pastor of St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church, Lublin, will be elevated to the office of Very Rev. Senior of Wisconsin District by Bishop Joseph Zawistowski, ordinary of the Western Diocese, on November 8, 1981.

The Hair Bender, beauty shop, in their new location on Prospect Street in Thorp, celebrated their grand opening.

Authorization was given to the Thorp Fire Department to purchase a new portable pumper at the annual meeting of the Thorp Rural Fire Department.

10 Years Ago (1996)

Steve and Carmen Muenich recently purchased Cloverleaf Cheese, Inc., from Bill and Arlene Marten.
