100 Years Ago (1906)

Village Marshall P. McParland has recently purchased a driving horse, which he is exercising daily regardless of the ordinance prohibiting fast driving.

Reseburg Ramblings – Louis Pagel who has been ill with typhoid fever at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Chippewa Falls for the past three months returned to his home here.

Plans are on foot to organize another general merchandise company in this village and erect a modern building for its use.

75 Years Ago (1931)

Walter Sapa, aged 27 years and 5 months met instant death when the car he was driving on Hwy 29 west of Boyd turned over several times when he failed to make a curve.

The following officers of Thorp Lodge No. 264, A. F. & A. M. were elected: W. M. – Walter Wohlleben: S. W. – S. Philips; J. W. – H. Solie; Treas. – E. F. Heideman; Sec. – R. H. Tolford.

50 Years Ago (1956)

Joseph Kulwiec, who had devoted the past forty years to teaching in the rural schools in the vicinity of Thorp, has been obliged to give it up because of a heart ailment.

Stores in Thorp are ready for Christmas shoppers. The businessmen have prepared for one of the biggest seasons ever.

Julia Kaminski, Thorp, will be listed in this year’s publication of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”

Thorp Orbits: A Thorp businessman while aiming at a bear slightly nipped the bear’s nose with the shell. He out ran the raging black bear to camp. It’ll be many a day before his fellow hunters will let him forget this episode.

25 Years Ago (1981)

The body of Minnie Anderson, 73, a resident of the Clark County Health Care Center, was found Sunday by deer hunters. She had been missing since August 23 from the care center.

Terry C. Misfeldt, 31, Tulsa, OK, has been named editor of FUTURE Magazine, the official publication of The United States Jaycees. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Misfeldt of Thorp. Terry is a 1968 graduate of Thorp High School.

10 Tears Ago (1996)

Clark County was eliminated as a potential site for the $40 million Supermax prison at last week’s Building Committee meeting in Madison.

Between 15 and 20 Thorp firefighters responded to a call at 2:30 a.m., Saturday morning at the home of Christine M. Poppe, N12523 Bruce Mound Ave.
