knocked out its relief system and the towns, cities and villages must
bear the entire burden of this expense, it behooves them to find ways to
pare down these costs or rapidly go bankrupt. 50 Years

25 Years Ago (1985) As a general rule, the
history of most Thorp buildings is of diversity; most buildings have
several different kinds of business in them over their existence. The
building where H and E Appliances is now located, is an exception to
that rule. It is true that the building has had different owners
over its 80 or so years of existence, but one consistency it had is
being a hardware store. Thorp Area Chapter #2254 of AARP will
celebrate their 10th anniversary on Monday, April 15th at Morgan Plaza.
10 Years Ago (2000) Attention Thorp area
residents! There is now a cheese store just outside of town for
all you cheese lovers. Esther Abramowicz in partnership with Bryan
Drangle has opened Papa Cheese, two miles north and one mile west on
Center Road. The first place winner of the Thorp Jaycees’
Beautiful Baby contest was Brandy Rycerz, daughter of Judy and Ron
Rycerz. The second place winner was Emily Micke, daughter of Kristy and
